Dr. Yang Zhang brings over 15 years of expertise in synthetic biology and computational biology to his role as Head of AI at Cataya. Before joining Cataya, he served as Data Scientist and Technical Program Manager at Amyris, where he drove the development of several core R&D platforms, including Automated Strain Engineering systems and scale-up modeling spanning plate to tank fermentation.
Dr. Zhang holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from New Mexico State University. His doctoral research on gene regulatory networks earned first place in the DREAM Challenge, a prestigious international bioinformatics competition.
